Mind, Meditation, and Brain

Different segments of the brain specialise in different types of cognitive activities but overall response is seldom localised. Development of the brain has been in stages and different parts of the brain have evolved at different times in response to the needs of the time.

There is irrefutable evidence that brain is always changing - every experience be it internal and external changes the pattern of connections in the brain. A feedback cycle is established where the brain (through experience or thought) changes the brain and vice versa.

Lack of focused thinking is a consequence of the environment where the dangers were constantly changing. Ability to regularly evaluate different threats was an optimal defence mechanism. Today the needs are different - cooperation, learning and creativity provide greater rewards. Creating healthier and more focused mind through meditation is becoming well established:
